Warranty Policy

LD POWER MARINE is committed to supplying quality marine engines and related products. This Warranty Policy explains the warranty coverage that may apply to engines and motors purchased directly from LD POWER MARINE.

Please read this policy carefully before purchasing. Warranty coverage varies depending on whether the product is new, used, refurbished, or otherwise specifically identified in the product listing or sales documentation.

1. Warranty Coverage

Warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser of the product and only to products purchased directly from LD POWER MARINE, unless otherwise stated in writing.

The applicable warranty period and coverage will be identified on the product listing, quotation, invoice, or other written sales documentation provided at the time of purchase.

Unless specifically stated otherwise:

  • New engines are covered according to the warranty terms stated in the applicable product documentation.
  • Used engines are covered only if an LD POWER MARINE warranty is expressly stated in the product listing, quotation, or invoice.
  • Engines sold “as-is,” “for parts,” “for rebuild,” or with a specific condition disclosure are not covered by an LD POWER MARINE warranty unless expressly stated in writing.
  • Manufacturer warranties, where applicable, are subject to the manufacturer’s own terms and conditions.

2. What the Warranty Covers

Where an LD POWER MARINE warranty is provided, it generally covers defects in materials and workmanship that arise during the applicable warranty period under normal and intended marine use.

Depending on the product and warranty provided, coverage may include repair or replacement of a defective component or, at LD POWER MARINE’s discretion, another appropriate remedy.

Warranty coverage does not guarantee that an engine will remain free from normal wear, maintenance requirements, or failures resulting from improper use or installation.

3. Used and Pre-Owned Engines

Used marine engines are sold based on their stated condition at the time of sale.

Because used engines may have an unknown operating history, previous repairs, modifications, corrosion, or normal wear, warranty coverage for used engines is limited to the specific terms stated in the applicable product listing, quotation, or invoice.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the following are not considered warranty defects in a used engine:

  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Cosmetic deterioration.
  • Minor corrosion consistent with the engine’s age and condition.
  • Existing wear disclosed before purchase.
  • Components that are normally considered service or maintenance items.
  • Performance characteristics associated with the engine’s age, operating hours, model, or previous use.

Customers should carefully review the product description and ask any questions about condition, specifications, operating hours, service history, or included components before purchasing.

4. Warranty Period

The warranty period begins on the date the product is delivered to the original purchaser unless otherwise stated in writing.

The applicable warranty period is the period specifically stated on the product listing, quotation, invoice, or warranty documentation.

Warranty claims submitted after the applicable warranty period has expired will not be accepted, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

5. Warranty Claim Requirements

To make a warranty claim, the customer must contact LD POWER MARINE as soon as a suspected warranty issue is identified.

A warranty claim may require:

  • Customer name and contact information.
  • Original invoice or proof of purchase.
  • Engine model and serial number.
  • Description of the problem.
  • Photographs or videos showing the issue.
  • Diagnostic information or inspection reports.
  • Maintenance and service records, where applicable.
  • Information about installation and use.
  • Any other reasonable information required to assess the claim.

Customers must not dispose of, alter, dismantle, repair, or modify a potentially defective component before receiving instructions from LD POWER MARINE.

Failure to provide requested information may delay assessment of the warranty claim.

6. Inspection and Diagnosis

LD POWER MARINE may require an engine or component to be inspected or diagnosed before determining whether a warranty claim is valid.

Depending on the circumstances, we may require the product to be:

  • Inspected by LD POWER MARINE.
  • Inspected by an approved marine mechanic or technician.
  • Returned to a designated location.
  • Diagnosed using appropriate marine-engine testing procedures.

If an inspection determines that the issue is not covered by the warranty, the customer may be responsible for inspection, diagnostic, transportation, repair, and other associated costs, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

No warranty repair should be undertaken without prior written authorization from LD POWER MARINE, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

7. Installation Requirements

Marine engines must be installed correctly and in accordance with applicable manufacturer specifications and industry standards.

Warranty coverage may not apply where a failure results from:

  • Incorrect installation.
  • Improper rigging.
  • Incorrect wiring.
  • Incorrect fuel-system installation.
  • Incorrect cooling-system installation.
  • Incorrect propeller selection or setup.
  • Incorrect lubrication.
  • Incorrect engine configuration.
  • Installation by an unqualified person where professional installation was reasonably required.
  • Failure to follow manufacturer installation requirements.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the engine is compatible with their vessel and intended application before installation.

8. Maintenance and Servicing

The customer is responsible for performing all required maintenance and servicing in accordance with the applicable manufacturer’s recommendations and the requirements stated in the product documentation.

Warranty coverage may not apply where a failure results from:

  • Failure to perform required maintenance.
  • Incorrect oil, lubricant, fuel, or coolant.
  • Contaminated fuel.
  • Water contamination.
  • Overheating.
  • Lack of lubrication.
  • Blocked cooling passages.
  • Failure to winterize where required.
  • Improper storage.
  • Failure to replace normal wear items.

Customers should retain relevant maintenance and service records.

9. Exclusions

Unless expressly stated otherwise, this warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

  • Accidents or collision.

  • Impellers.
  • Gaskets and seals subject to normal service.
  • Lubricants and fluids.

  • Other routine maintenance components.

A component may nevertheless be covered if LD POWER MARINE determines that its failure resulted directly from a covered defect in materials or workmanship.

11. Labor and Installation Costs

Unless expressly stated in the applicable warranty documentation, warranty coverage does not automatically include:

  • Removal of the engine from the vessel.
  • Reinstallation of the engine.
  • Vessel haul-out or launching.
  • Dockage or storage.
  • Travel expenses.
  • Diagnostic fees charged by third parties.
  • Marine technician or mechanic labor.
  • Rigging or re-rigging.
  • Transportation or freight.
  • Crane or lifting charges.
  • Towing.
  • Loss of use.

Any labor or third-party service costs must be approved in writing by LD POWER MARINE before they are incurred if reimbursement is to be considered, subject to applicable law.

12. Shipping and Transportation

Where LD POWER MARINE determines that a product or component must be returned for warranty inspection, we will provide instructions regarding the appropriate return method.

Responsibility for transportation costs will depend on the nature of the claim and the applicable warranty terms.

Customers should not ship an engine or major component to LD POWER MARINE without receiving prior written instructions.

LD POWER MARINE is not responsible for damage resulting from inadequate packaging or transportation arranged by the customer, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

13. Warranty Remedies

If a valid warranty claim is approved, LD POWER MARINE may, subject to applicable law and the applicable warranty terms:

  • Repair the defective component.
  • Supply a replacement component.
  • Replace the affected product where reasonably available.
  • Provide another remedy permitted under the applicable warranty terms.

The remedy provided will depend on the nature of the defect, availability of parts or replacement products, the age and condition of the engine, and the specific warranty applicable to the purchase.

A replacement part or repaired component will generally remain subject to the original warranty period unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly stated in writing.

14. No Automatic Refund

A warranty claim does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund.

Where a warranty claim is valid, LD POWER MARINE will determine the appropriate remedy in accordance with the applicable warranty terms and applicable consumer law.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

15. Manufacturer Warranties

Some new engines or components may be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty.

Where a manufacturer warranty applies, the customer may be required to follow the manufacturer’s warranty registration and claim procedures.

LD POWER MARINE does not extend, modify, or guarantee a manufacturer’s warranty unless expressly stated in writing.

Manufacturer warranties are subject to the manufacturer’s own terms, conditions, exclusions, and geographic limitations.

16. Transfer of Warranty

Unless otherwise stated in writing or required by applicable law, LD POWER MARINE warranties are provided to the original purchaser and are not transferable to a subsequent owner.

17. False or Fraudulent Claims

LD POWER MARINE reserves the right to reject warranty claims where there is reasonable evidence of:
